Football Clubs and Lavish Neighbours - Chelsea

Chelsea - Region Background and Development

Chelsea, a veritable rich area in London, the famous Sloane Street, Chelsea Royal Hospital and Harrods are all in Chelsea.
King Henry VIII acquired Chelsea Manor in 1536, where both of his wives lived and Queen Elizabeth I once lived. Chelsea has long been a hotspot for the rich and was once described as a "Palace Village".

Many outsiders wonder why there is no subway station here? In fact, Chelsea is a well-known rich area in London. The British said that they rarely leave their own small circle of Kensington-Chelsea (Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea). Even if they want to "go far", they must take a taxi.

The nearest train station is the Imperial Wharf railway station next to Chelsea Harbour. There used to be a train station in Chelsea between King's Road and Fulham Road, but the train station was not being renovated after it was destroyed by artillery bombing during World War II, so it disappeared.

Interestingly, the Crossrail 2 -Elizabeth Line, which was expected by the general public, was opposed by Chelsea residents! The British media half mocked: the only protest of the largest middle class in history!

Residents of Chelsea believe that the cross highway will destroy the local cultural characteristics, and the convenient transportation will not only not improve their life style, but will also bring troubles.

Chelsea - Location and Traffic

Chelsea is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington-Chelsea. Since Kensington Palace, where the British royal family lives, is located in this borough, "Royal" is specially added to the official administrative area name as a distinction. Chelsea is located in the first district of London, next to the River Thames, a fashionable and artistic district in central London. Its zip code includes SW3, SW10 and SW1 of a district. Chelsea currently does not have its own subway station. The closest subway stations are Sloane Square (District and Circle lines) and South Kensington (District, Circle and Piccadilly lines).

It has a history of more than 150 years since its establishment.

The most famous building in Chelsea is the Chelsea Royal Hospital, established by Charles II and opened in 1694 as the first large royal building.

Kensington Palace is a royal palace in London, located in Kensington Gardens in the Kensington and Chelsea district. It has been the residence of the British royal family since the 17th century. It is currently the official residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Prince and Duchess Michael of Kent.
