Kings Cross - Harry Potter's Platform 9 3/4

Kings Cross - Region Background and Development

Kings Cross was a village long, long ago called Battle Bridge or Battlebridge, an ancient river crossing. The original name of the bridge was Broad Ford Bridge. A corrupt "battle bridge" has led to a tradition that this was the site of a major battle between the Romans and the Iceni tribe led by Boudica in AD 60 or 61.

King's Cross – The present name is derived from the monument to King George IV, which stood between 1830 and 1845 at "King's Crossing", New Road (later Euston Road), Gray's Brigade Road and Pentonville Road meet.
